Then, you definitely have to transfer your site to another host that’s known to be safe, reliable and fast. So how do you migrate WordPress without losing your files and ensure a safe transition from the original to the new host? Use the WP-DB-BACKUP Plugin.

Here are some of the benefits of using this plugin:

  1. Easy to use

  2. Easy to set up

  3. Compatible with most hosting providers

  4. Has a folder for all your content

How to Move Your WordPress Site to a New Host

Moving your WordPress site from your current host to a new one can be done in ten steps as shown below.

Log in to your site and do the following:

  1. Install WP-DB-BACKUP Plugin and backup your database.

  2. Backup your Content files via FTP. Look for the wp-content folder, right click and choose download. That should download all your content, images, plugins, themes. It’s important to copy as it is, otherwise, when you switch to the new site, the images and the content might not match.

  3. Paste to Filezilla and wait until it finishes downloading all your files.

  4. Point DNS to new host. Put the IP address to the new host and click save.

  5. Wait for propagation which takes about 1-2 hours.

  6. Install WordPress on new host.

  7. Open your Filezilla and upload your saved files.

  8. Upload database backup. Click WP options and import all data.

  9. Once everything’s uploaded, click browse in phpMyAdmin and look for your URL. It’s important that this URL and the one you’re moving your Wp site to is the same.

  10. Enter your URL in a web browser and check your website. You’ll see that it’s the exact replica of your old one – from themes to images and even your old passwords.
